Get Ready for Spring!

We're still seeing cold temperatures and snow showers here in the Treasure Valley - but believe it or not, now is the time to start preparing for a productive Spring! Here are a few tips:

Late winter is a great time to get your lawn equipment serviced before everyone else! If you have a lawn mower, chain saw, weed eater, you name it that will need to be serviced before it's ready to tackle your spring home projects, it's better to schedule that now ahead of the rush! If your tools are ready, you won't be able to get started on your property as the weather warms up!

When it comes to making the most of the space on your property, you might want to consider adding a shop, barn, carport, or garage.

Not only will an additional storage space likely increase the value of your property, it will give you and your family room to store your things in an organized fashion.

Our team can match your current home's style with your new shed/shop so the addition will look seamless.

Head Outdoors

Outdoor living spaces provide a unique place to gather with family and friends. The trend is to extend your living room to the outdoor barbecue.  What better way to enjoy our beautiful Idaho vistas and climate!  Investing in an outdoor living space will not only enhance your enjoyment of your home, but it will also increase your home value. An American Institute of Architects Home Design Trends Survey recently identified outdoor living spaces as a top homeowner and homebuyer preference. Indoor/outdoor convergence is definitely a national trend.  When planning your outdoor living area here are some ideas you may want to consider:

  • ·       Outdoor cooking:  The kitchen is the heart of the home and of the outdoor living space.  In addition to built-in grills many homeowners are adding features such as pizza ovens, rotisseries, and cooking islands.  Weather resistant counters made of concrete, stone, and stainless steel provide needed prep space. The trend is to make the area a full-functioning kitchen including refrigerators and all-weather cabinetry.  Lighting is important in this area and will differ from the more muted lighting that is preferable in seating areas.

  • ·       Defining the Space:  Careful thought should be given to defining different areas of the outdoor living space.  A pergola provides a great seating or dining area, separate from the outdoor kitchen.  A wide variety of outdoor furniture is now available.  Space can also be defined with planters and built-in seating.  Fire pits have also become popular, and create an inviting gathering place.

  • ·       Evening entertaining:  Muted lighting, heat for cooler evenings, and, of course, music are important elements to consider in your outdoor living area.  A wide variety of lighting options are available, and can help define your entertainment area.  Heat lamps are a must and will extend the use of that area.  Wireless speakers, and TVs are easily incorporated.
